In January of 2006, ARDA International Foundation (AIF), which is tied to the American Resort Development Association (ARDA), came out with a study that showed timeshare sales had increased 5% since the previous year. Statistics also show around 4.1 million households to own one or more timeshares in the U.S. Many vacation resorts are adapting this idea of timeshares as well. Last year, there were 1,604 timeshare resorts in the U.S. alone.
