Timeshare owners have been taking the brunt of this economic downturn. As many vacation properties have become more of a burden than a destination the consumer is battling both the resort and unscrupulous resale companies who are all looking to compensate for the weak economy. Resorts are adding special assessment fees to already heavy maintenance fees and many timeshare owners have been forced to stop making payments altogether. Meanwhile dishonest resale companies are collecting millions of dollars from unsuspecting owners and often doing little or nothing in return.
