This event stretched from October 15 to November 22. In the first few days it truly was the season of giving. Employees of this local advertising firm set a goal of 500lbs. This increased to 1000lbs after an impressive first week resulted in over 700lbs of food.
Their new ½ ton goal was easily conquered. The food and drinks slowly became a huge pile of groceries. The benefactor of this Food Drive is the New Hampshire Food Bank and Metropolitan Ministries . The New Hampshire Food Bank has recently opened a new storage facility in Manchester, New Hampshire. This is the only food bank in the granite state. They help to feed over 127,000 people each year. Even in the grip of a recession the group donated as many cans, jars and boxes as they could. This has resulted in a gift of 1590 pounds and $1200 to the NH Food Bank.
This is not the first year that Buy A Timeshare.com has held a great Food Drive. In December of 2009 the staff donated 348 lbs to Metropolitan Ministries in Tampa, Florida. This year, the group was able to donate nearly 2500 lbs to that same charity. Even customers were able to be part of the event. For the first time ever, the local business used a portion of its revenue toward a cash donation to local charities.
Metropolitan Ministries has been operating in the Tampa Florida area since 1972. For over 35 years, together with the Tampa Bay community, they have made it possible for 522,200 families to be served through Outreach and Prevention Services, nearly 23 million hot meals have been prepared and 354,520 safe haven shelter nights have been provided.
